Rockwall Habitat for Humanity

Summer 2012 Newsletter

President's Corner

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Rockwall Habitat for Humanity, we thank all the volunteers who have worked diligently during the beginning of this year to get our current home build off to a great start. Construction on the house at 304 East Ross in Rockwall is continuing at a fabulous rate, and the plans for pouring the slab at 302 East Ross are being finalized.

At our April board meeting, Steve Wood was elected to the Board as our new Construction Director. Steve's knowledge of the construction process along with his instructional abilities and easy demeanor will benefit our efforts towards providing affordable housing to families in need. We are looking for individuals interested in joining the board of directors as we need to fill a couple of positions that will be coming open in the very near future. If you are interested in filling either the Volunteer Coordinator or Family Nurturer positions please feel free to contact any board member to learn more about these two opportunities.

I would like to thank everyone associated with Rockwall Habitat for Humanity and want to remind you that we are not only helping a family with each house we build, but a neighborhood and community as well.

Thank you.
John Coté

Our Current House Half Way Done

Great progress has been made on the current Habitat house at 304 Ross Street.  We've had a great turn out each Saturday with between 15 to 25 volunteers, including RISD students bringing meals & volunteering on Students Serving Others Day.

Our Next Habitat Family Selected

We are very proud to announce that Marvin and Jackelin Villalobos are our next recipient of a Habitat for Humanity home. Their new address will be 302 East Ross Ave. Rockwall TX 75087.

The Villalobos have three children:

The Villalobos home will begin construction in the late summer of 2012 and be completed by the end of 2012. The entire family has visited with the current family and are very excited about this opportunity. Jacquelin has asked for a letter to help raise funds for Rockwall's Habitat for Humanity chapter. She feels blessed that her prayers have been answered and wants to "give back" to the organization that has helped her.

Marvin is a former employee of the Rockwall Independent School District. He is now retired due to his health. Jackelin is one of the cheerful co-workers at In-N-Out Burger. The school district, the restaurant and their church, Cornerstone Rockwall Church and Lake Pointe Church are very supportive of this family.
